The exam screens, step by step
Screens redrawn by us as an example: the real ones may look slightly different.
You are given a deskEvery desk has a number (for example LS034). It is chosen automatically by the Motorizzazione computer system (CED): you do not choose it.
Choose the language and tick the two boxesIt is a touch screen: you tap it with your finger. On the «Benvenuto candidato» page choose the language, confirm you have read the two notices (personal data and jammers) and tap «Procedi al riconoscimento».
Look at the webcamSit up straight in front of the screen, with your face in the middle of the frame and your eyes on the webcam at the top, until the recognition is finished.
Check your details and tap «Procedi»Your name, surname, tax code and the licence you are applying for appear. If something is wrong, do not go on: tap the red button and call the examiner. Then read the instructions and warnings, and the test starts.
Answer V or FV means true, F means false. With the arrows at the bottom you go to the previous or next question, with the numbers you jump to any question, with the bookmark at the top right you mark the ones you want to come back to. You can change your answers until the end. Stay in front of the webcam: if you move away, «Esame sospeso» (test paused) appears until you are back in the middle.
Check the summary and hand inAt the end you see all your answers: «Indietro» takes you back to correct them, «Termina esame» hands in the test. «Esame terminato» appears.

Audio support (specific cases only)
The questions can be listened to through headphones, in Italian, French or German, only if:
you do not have the Italian lower secondary school certificate (terza media)
you do not have Italian citizenship and you do not have a qualification equivalent to lower secondary school eitherin these two cases a separate application with a €16 revenue stamp (marca da bollo) is needed, submitted together with the driving licence application
you have a specific learning disorder (DSA)the certificate must be brought to the medical examination at the driving school: the doctor checks the requirements. Without it there is no audio and the medical examination must be repeated
If one of these cases applies to you, tell the office straight away: it must be requested before the booking is made.

Anti-fraud devices (jammers) from 14 September 2026
From 14 September 2026, devices that block radio signals are active during Motorizzazione theory tests. Anyone using connected medical devices (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, etc.), candidates who are pregnant and people with particular health conditions must submit a declaration with a medical certificate to the Motorizzazione before booking the exam, in order to be given a dedicated session. For minors the declaration is always compulsory and must also be signed by a parent. If you think this applies to you, tell the office before the application is filed: we will explain how to send the documents straight to the Office, without handing them to us.
