As soon as you get your licence you will be a new driver (neopatentato), and for the first years there are specific limits on speed and on vehicle power. The examiner often asks about them precisely because they will apply to you straight away.
For the first 3 years after getting your licence, the speed limits are lower on motorways (autostrada) and on main extra-urban roads (extraurbane principali). Since 14 December 2024 the new power limits have also been in force.
Questions the examiner may ask

For the first 3 years after getting the licence: motorway 100 km/h, main extra-urban roads 90 km/h. These stay the same as for other drivers: secondary extra-urban roads 90 km/h and urban roads 50 km/h.
Since 14 December 2024, for the first 3 years after getting the Patente B, new drivers may not drive vehicles with a power-to-weight ratio above 75 kW per tonne and a maximum power above 105 kW.
Common mistake: saying that all limits change for new drivers. No: urban roads (50) and secondary extra-urban roads (90) stay the same. Only motorways (100 instead of 130) and main extra-urban roads (90 instead of 110) change.
Tip: link your answer to field P.2 of the registration document: "As a new driver, before driving a vehicle I check field P.2 to make sure it respects the power limits". This kind of link makes a very good impression.
